We are designing a 1500 square foot hands-on history gallery telling the
stories of life as a Dallas County child over 150 years. We exhibit a
high-wheel bicycle in one of the main exhibits, and back in September I
thought it would be fun to have a stationary, reproduction high wheel
bike in the hands-on gallery for kids to ride. I later found out the
newly-opened Chicago History Museum also has one and has been very
popular and successful.

Here is the problem: our exhibit design firm, exhibit fabricator
company, and Executive Director all feel that it is too much of a
liability. I will be making a presentation to our Board President and
Executive Director lobbying to keep this element. If you have a rideable
component in one of your galleries or something similar, I would greatly
appreciate you sharing your (hopefully, positive) experiences with me.
