This topic has come up before about a year ago (search the archives?) It's not "animated" but my favorite clever idea for a donation box was in Seattle at the Sci-Fi Hall of Fame and Museum. At the end of the exhibit there was a simple pedestal with three choices, three slots, and three money reservoirs. The label asked visitors to "vote" for their favorite science-fiction movie by dropping money in an appropriate slot. Clear plexi-windows on the front of the pedistaul/boxes allowed visitors to see the "results
It was just interesting how they pitched the idea. Rather than a generic sign saying "your donations are appreciated" this gave the visitors another reason to donate -- and presumably donate at a higher amount. There *was* a standard disclaimer, saying all votes/donations are gratefully accepted and will be added to the exhibit fund- yadd-yadda-yadda . . . .
