Brief Description: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Business; Public
Administration; Marketing; Education; or any related field and five (5) years
professional experience in grant writing/administration or development
including specific experience in a museum or other non-profit setting with
three (3) of the five (5) years in a supervisory capacity; or any combination
of experience and training which enables one to perform the essential job
functions. (PROOF OF EDUCATION REQUIRED)
Detailed
Descriptions: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Works as a member of the Museum System senior
management team under the direction of the Director
of Museums to obtain and
effectively administer sponsorships, grants, and planned gifts. Works with
Director and MMI Board to identify Trustees and others who can help with
fundraising. Works with staff at all levels in all departments; MMI
Trustees; and with City, State, and Federal Officials. Serves as primary
staff liaison to various MMI Board Giving Committees. Develops casebooks
and other materials for sponsorship solicitations for IMAX films, museum
exhibits, special event and other sponsorships. Coordinates production schedule
and works across departmental lines to ensure accurate, timely
information for casebooks. Identifies optimal grant proposal program, writes
proposals, and insures compliance with grant guidelines. Develops
prospect lists for sponsor solicitation, planned giving, and other fundraising
programs. Researches legal and ethical aspects of planned gifts.
Assists Director in developing strategies and materials for capital campaigns.
Coordinates donor recognition across departmental lines. Makes presentations to
outside individuals and organizations on behalf of the Museum system.
OTHER FUNCTIONS:
1. Creates text and works with staff and outside artists to
obtain necessary graphics.
2.
Coordinates with other senior management to plan strategies and budgets for the
Museum system.
3. Performs
additional functions (essential or otherwise) which may be assigned.
Job
Requirements: TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Primarily
deskwork. Requires ability to lift up to 25lbs, operate a personal
computer, and must be able to occasionally travel to off site meeting
locations.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in an
office environment.
