Recently, my museum had proper Sissal matting installed in some of our interpretative spaces by the JR Burrows Company.   We have been extremely pleased with their work as the flooring was made with natural materials and was done using 19th century methods.  Our representative was Dan Cooper and he can be reached at 800-347-1795.   Good luck on your project!

Best,
Matt

I purchased sea grass matting from Bensons Import in California http://www.bensonsimport.com/pages/wholesale/tropical_mattings_palm_tiki_carvings/Page1.html

It comes in 6 x9 rugs but it is made up of 12 square sections that are sewn together and can be cut apart. The pattern of the square looks very much like the image in At Home of a painting of a Massachusetts room c. 1800.
