The Seminole Tribe of Florida’s Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki
Museum is seeking an Education Coordinator who will be responsible for the development
of learning programs, projects and classroom curricula to educate both Tribal
and non-tribal students in the history and culture of the Seminole Tribe of
Florida.
The essential functions of the job include: • Develop and schedule tours for
school groups, youth organizations, church, community and the like •
Train and supervise tour guides to give effective, friendly, and interesting
presentations • Develop special programs for visiting groups on selected
topics • Develop special “hands-on” projects for visiting
groups • Develop supplemental cultural learning programs for Seminole
youths • Establish internship programs at the museum for the Seminole
student in Museum–related studies • Develop and coordinate programs
tailored to the needs of the Seminole people, which perpetuate their culture
through interaction of all Tribal members • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, skills, and abilities required: • B.A. in Elementary or Secondary
Education/Social Sciences or History • At least three years teaching
experience in public or private school, related experience may be substituted
• Background/interest in Native American culture and history,
particularly Florida Seminole history is preferred • Accurate
typing/computer skills • Ability to write and speak effectively •
Ability to travel when necessary.
