Margaret,

You might want to contact Kent Chrisman, executive director of the Historical Society of Western Virginia ([log in to unmask]), and ask him about the arrangement with the executors of the estate of O. Winston Link. The HSWV runs the museum and has an agreement with the estate about reproducing Link's photographs.

It's a question to ask your legal counsel or a lawyer familiar with copyright law, because I think any agreement would invovle assignment of copyright after her demise. During the remainder of her life, while she holds copyright, perhaps the agreement could involve payment of a royalty by the museum to the photographer.
