There are two reasons to come to Taos:

1.  The mystical atmosphere and the rich cultural experience

2. The sessions which are REALLY good this year…. Take a look at three:

NAGPRA:  Boring?? NO WAY. Try Insightful.  Did you know that NAGPRA has done more to build friendships between cultures and to generate community involvement than just about any other museum program?  Did you know that there is money out there to do NAGPRA projects that are designed to improve museum services?  Come to this session to hear the “backstory”on NAGPRA.

Jewelry:  Why should you care about this one?  Because the jewelry collection at the Millicent Rogers Museum is Stunning.  Learn about it from a former director who just wrote the book on it and then go to the museum to see Millicent's entire collection on display.  The exhibit display itself – creative and compelling - is worth the trip to Taos.

Fechin’s Paintings:  There are actually two sessions and a tour.  One  session is on the actual paintings by this member of the Taos Society of Artists. Another session will be given by two conservators who worked on the paintings; they will give you the inside story on the problems they encountered. Then, during one of the conference's evening events, visit Fechin’s paintings in situ at his home. The Fechin House has paintings by other early Taos artists on view plus furniture from the early 20th century.  It and his studio are good examples of how one can be creative with an historic house. How much more complete does it get??!!
