The Museum of Funeral Customs announces that its first Symposium, “Death & Loss in America, Colonial Era to the Present” will be held in Springfield, IL, October 19 through 21, 2006.  The conference hotel is the Crowne Plaza where a block of room has been reserved for participants.  A Symposium registration form and the list of presenters and paper titles are now available and will be posted on the Museum’s web site at www.funeralmuseum.org.  Early-bird registration continues until October 1.

Opened to the public in April 2001, the Museum of Funeral Customs is operated by the Illinois Funeral Service Foundation and the Illinois Funeral Directors Association.  The Museum interprets the history of American funeral service from 1840 to the present.
