Small Museum Association Annual Conference Request for Proposal Pre-Conference Visit to Local Site For February 25, 2007 The Small Museum Association (SMA) Annual Conference has been held each year the last weekend of February (Sunday-Tuesday) for the past 23 years in Ocean City, MD. Traditionally, a visit is made to a local site/museum (preferably within approximately an hour's drive of Ocean City). This is a fantastic opportunity to meet other museum professionals and expose your site to conference attendees who come from organizations from states including Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, DC and beyond. PLEASE NOTE THAT SMA WILL STRIVE FOR GEOGRAPHIC BALANCE IN DETERMINING CONFERENCE TRIP SITES GOING FORWARD. This year, SMA is seeking interested organizations that would enjoy hosting approximately15-20 persons visiting your site during what is generally a slower time of year. Your organization's proposal should include: * Name of Site/Museum * Are you an SMA Member? (Yes, No, Unsure) this will not affect your eligibility, but we hope you might consider becoming a member if you are not already! * Site Description/typical length of visit/visit activities * Contact Person * Address/Directions/average driving time from Ocean City, MD * Phone number (both on-site and contact cell) Your site MUST provide transportation and arrange for directions to your site to be forwarded to SMA well ahead of the conference for promotional and informational purposes. SMA charges a $25.00 fee for the Trip to conference attendees; SMA will pay $10/trip attendee to your site/museum for the visit. This fee shall cover admission to your site/museum and this fee shall reimburse your site for any other expenses incurred (e.g., fuel, etc.). Deadline for Submissions is September 15, 2006.
