POSITION:
Educational Coordinator (Part-time)
DEPARTMENT: Historic Sites -
Pottsgrove Manor
SALARY:
$14.00 per hour
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Responsible
for creating and implementing educational programs for all age groups based on
the site’s history; early American material culture, skills and
crafts. Assists site staff in coordination of all special events.
Assists staff in designing and writing interpretive handbooks, event programs
and site brochures. Coordinates the youth volunteer program and provides for
workshops and training programs. Conducts interpretive tours for all visitors;
conducts demonstrations of early American crafts and skills; provides for
special educational programs. Responsible for scheduling group tours;
coordinating volunteers for tours and special events; and assisting with
volunteer training; basic site security and record keeping.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:
Bachelor’s
degree or equivalent experience in the field of history and/or education with
emphasis on early American studies and/or proven experience in the museum field
in a similar position. Must be knowledgeable in early American history with
emphasis on 18th Century material culture, the iron industry, early
domestic skills and period crafts. Must possess excellent oral and written
interpretive skills. Must be able to work well with groups of all ages. Must be
computer literate with good typing skills. Must be a team player.
OTHER:
Will
not exceed 25 hours per week with the scheduled workweek to be Wednesday
through Saturday with rotating Sunday and Tuesday scheduling. Attendance at all
site special events and certain holidays is required. Must have a valid PA
driver’s license. Official affiliations with the site’s support
groups would be a conflict of interest.

SALARY:
$10.37, per hour
RESPONSIBILITIES:
·
Use, care and maintenance of all equipment.
·
Maintain/repair and improve facilities.
·
Able to complete assignments within established
timeframe.
·
Work productively at assigned tasks,
independently.
·
Required to attend training classes, (including,
but not limited to, First Aid, CPR and any other classes as deemed necessary).
·
Cut grass and rake leaves.
·
Trim trees, shrubs and bushes.
·
Shovel dirt, sand and gravel.
·
Pick up litter
·
Paintwork, minor carpentry, plumbing and
electrical work, as needed.
·
Other, assigned duties as required.
ABILITIES, SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
·
Able to work productively in all types of
weather.
·
Able to lift in excess of 50 pounds.
·
Must be able to drive a tractor.
·
Must have good inter-personal, oral and written
communication skills.
·
Previous landscape experience.
·
Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Driver's
License.
·
High School diploma or equivalency.
OTHER:
Will
