DUTY LOCATION: Washington, DC AREA OF CONSIDERATION: All candidates may apply DUTIES: Incumbent serves as Repatriation Review Committee (RRC) Coordinator and attends to the RRC's needs relating to travel, and meetings, reports (administrative and case related), case facilitation, as outlined in the repatriation legislation and assists in communicating the documentation produced by the RRC to the Repatriation Office, the Department of Anthropology, and the Office of the Director. In addition to performing various administrative and technical services principally for the RRC, but also, as time permits, engages in collections activities that are repatriationrelated for the Anthropology Collections and Archives Program. Coordinates and analyzes data, drafts, edits and produces RRC reports, on the progress of the repatriation. Coordinates and facilitates regular communication with the Chairperson and other members of the RRC, between the RRC and groups within the Smithsonian and groups outside the Smithsonian (Native American and the general public). Monitors and tracks all repatriation review correspondences. Develops and maintains RRC records and files. Coordinates the planning, logistics, official recording, and follow-up of RRC meetings/conferences. This includes all logistical coordination of the meeting site, local and long distance travel arrangements for participants, as well as monitoring and coordinating administrative and financial support related to meetings/conferences. Prepares official records of meetings. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level. Specialized experience is defined as experience which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position, and which is typically in or related to the work of the position as described above. Applicants may also qualify if they possess a master's or equivalent degree or two (2) full years of progressively higher graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. A combination of qualifying education and experience may be used to meet the qualification requirements. Applicants who wish to qualify based on education completed outside the United States, must be deemed equivalent to higher education programs of U.S. institutions by an organization that specializes in the interpretation of foreign educational credentials.
