During the 19th century, the Hartford lithographers Daniel Wright Kellogg, Edmund Burke Kellogg, and Elijah Chapman Kellogg rivaled the best New York and Boston firms in both the quantity and quality of their work.  Despite their significant historic and artistic interest, these prints have long been overlooked by scholars and collectors.

With support from the National Endowment for the Arts, The Connecticut Historical Society Museum is undertaking an ambitious project to compile a complete chronological list of all of the prints issued by the Kellogg brothers between 1830 and 1900.  Over 1600 prints have already been located in public and private collections throughout the country.

WE NEED YOUR HELP to identify additional Kellogg prints and additional resources concerning the Kellogg brothers and those lithographers, print publishers, artists and traveling salesmen associated with them.  Books with illustrations by the Kelloggs, individual prints, maps, broadsides, business records, correspondence, and early printed references would all be of interest.  Contact Nancy Finlay at [log in to unmask] or 860-236-5631 ext 236 if you know of such materials or if you would like further information about the project.
