Well I cant answer specifically for  City, but the arts and culture funding at all levels is in jeopardy whenever budgets are tight. Last budget crunch was what about 3 -4 years ago, museums laid off, some closed sites all to make state budgets lie within constraints. Many museums in Philadelphia felt this crunch, some still feel the crunch from when this city held back.

Subject: City funding for museums question

My coworker, our director of local arts policy, is looking for examples of when funding for a new or existing museum project in your city/county has become part of a local political debate in your area.  She’s trying to collect examples of a local area where city funding for an arts institution (specifically a museum) has become a financial concern and either been put on hold or successfully received funding after becoming part of a political debate among local leaders.

One example is the city of Tampa (visit: http://news.tbo.com/news/nationworld/MGB7BH92IJE.html)

Please send any examples my way.  Thanks in advance for your help.
