Primary job function and duties:

 

 The Greensboro Historical Museum, an AAM-accredited institution, seeks
a mature, creative and flexible individual to serve as Curator of
Exhibits. Position is funded by the City of Greensboro, and serves in
the museum division of the Greensboro Public Library Department.
Qualifications include a MA in a design-related field and a minimum of
three years museum exhibit design experience. The primary focus of the
position is the design, development and installation of all museum
exhibitions. Responsibilities include all phases of this process;
design, exhibit schedule, production, construction, installation and
maintenance. Over the next three years, the position will be responsible
for the design and fabrication of a new 8,000 sq. feet core history
exhibition scheduled to open in the fall of 2008. Additional duties
include serving as team leader of the Exhibits Committee, scheduling and
facilitating meetings, preparing minutes, maintaining the master
exhibition schedule, and oversight of department budget. The position
supervises one part time employee as well as volunteers, interns and
work study students. A proven ability to work successfully with teams is
required. The Curator oversees the design of in-house direct pieces for
museum events. Candidate must have a demonstrated ability to lead
successful exhibition project, ability to collaborate, ability to set
and meet deadlines. Position requires a working knowledge of computer
graphic programs to produce three dimensional models, graphics and
illustrations for exhibits, including, Auto-Des-Sys Form-Z, the Adobe
Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design and the
Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The
applicant must have experience with large format printing and scanning
as well as creation of print ready graphics. Applicant must have the
ability to draw plans to scale and read blueprints. This position also
serves as Museum liaison for building maintenance; keeps records of all
current and completed physical repairs to the National Register listed
building. Must have knowledge of current museum methods as they apply to
exhibit environment, preservation and object care.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

*	Master's Degree in design field 
*	1 - 3 years of experience with Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook

*	1 - 3 years of experience with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator 
*	Three years experience in museum exhibit design 

 An Ideal Candidate Would Also Possess (Preferred Qualifications):

*	1 year of experience with Auto-Des-Sys Form-Z
