I've used Tim McCreight's books for years, and while they're great resources for jewel-smithing and metalworking, they've never suggested mount-making techniques to me. An obvious limitation, to my mind anyway, his that they deal almost exclusively with metal, whereas various plastics are much more versatile and suitable for mount-making. A better bet would be CCI's "Mount-making for Museum Objects," available from their bookstore at https://www.cci-icc.gc.ca/bookstore/viewCategory-e.cfm?id=20 Cheers, ------------------------------------------------------------ Tim McShane, Assistant--Cultural History Esplanade Museum 401 First Street SE Medicine Hat, AB T1A 8W2 Tel: (403) 502-8587 [log in to unmask] >>> [log in to unmask] 1/31/2006 9:30 AM >>> I've heard that the Tim McCreight metalsmith book series are great for learning techniques for building object mounts. Is anyone familiar enough with this series to recommend one of these?
