Rochelle,
As far as the adhesive ? goes. I've spent some time trying to find the
best dbl sided tape. Been in touch with 3M's adhesive dept. and have
tried many samples. By far the best dbl. sided tape I have found to date
comes from http://www.unitedmfrs.com/ . (United Mfrs. Supplies Inc.) I
highly recommend their #5665 Super Sticky (catchy name, huh.) double
sided tape.

George,
We got a REALLY big printer about two years ago and we have switched to
foam board also. The panels usually run 3 to 4 feet in one direction and
we also had the problem of them bowing. I don't know what kind of walls
you have. Our exhibit space has Sisal covered plywood. We tried gluing
wood cleats on the backs with some success. It works on the smaller ones
but the big boys still curled on the corners. What we tried last time
was producing small wooden clips, two per corner, that we screw to the
wall. It works but I still don't like hanging hardware showing. Some
thing you might want to look into are the 3M Command line of fasteners.
http://www.3m.com/us/home_leisure/command/products/interlocking.jhtml
They have these picture hanging strips that, they say, will hold up to 3
lbs. And they can be removed from the wall with no residue or damage.
I've installed some large panels using these on campus (where there is
some wild temp. fluctuations) last month and they are doing pretty good.
Used them on drywall, wood panel and brick. Unfortunately they wont work
on the fabric we have in our gallery.
Hope some of this helps.
Oh yah, for you conservators out there. I only use this stuff on the
display panels. Non of it touches accessioned work or any of the
collections.
Now, where did I put that bag of cotton gloves I was going to
wash.................................
