MessageThe response should be whatever is appropriate for your museum. If
you are showcasing a historic home where Christmas was celebrated, then
Christmas will be mentioned.

However, the use of Happy Holidays is not to discount any one person's
religious beliefs but to not offend anyone. Our community is extremely
diverse and while I am a Christian and celebrate Christmas, many of our
patrons are not and celebrate other holidays. We often seem to focus that
the shift is to make less of Christmas and discount its religious
significance. While this may be the case in some instances, the larger
reality is we are a diverse nation and we must acknowledge that diversity.

The larger problem is when we say Happy Holidays and we are just finding
ways to not say "Christmas".
