Interesting question, I've got some blueprints that I'll (eventually) want to reproduce as well so let me know what you figure out..... *grin*

It is VERY do-able to scan (or photograph) several portions of the blueprints and then "stitch" them together.  Photoshop even helps automate this process -- look under "file > automate > photomerge."  Deciding on which how ultimately these images will be printed/reprinted will help determine how large and what resolution the file size will need to be.
