I was thinking a little more about the cell phone discusion on the way to work and came up with something that might be more beneficial. A year or so ago, my boyfriend broke his cell phone. He needed a replacement, and he was able to get one on Ebay (where they sometimes commend a pretty penny--and he turned around and lost the new one within a week at the airport). If you would like to help the victims of Katrina, why not have a Museum-L Yard Sale on Ebay. Take items you no longer need/want, put them up on Ebay, and then take the proceeds and donate them to places like the Red Cross, Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity and other organizations that are providing relief efforts. I think they would be a lot more valuable that way. I've never sold anything on Ebay; I'm simply a very avid consumer, so I can't tell you how to do it, but it musn't be hard because I've bought well over 400 things there. Anyway, I thought it might be a way to help those in need while lightening out your cupboards and garages.
