The Shaker Museum and Library, a not-for-profit multidisciplinary cultural institution located in Columbia County, New York seeks Museum Interns to assist in inventorying and cataloguing the object collection of the Shaker Museum and Library in Old Chatham, New York.  The Museum's collections contain over 66,000 objects and archival material. 

Museum Interns will work under the supervision of the Director of the Museum and with Curatorial Assistants to complete the Museum's inventory and upgrade the Museum's catalog and condition information for all categories in the object collection.  Interns will assist with the creation of appropriate storage for objects.  As needed, the Interns will also assist the Director of the Museum and other Museum personnel in the development of exhibitions and interpretive materials.

The candidates we seek should be enrolled in museum studies, art history, folk studies, public history, or related degree program and have an interest in an active hands-on experience with the care of a major museum collection. The Interns must be attentive to detail, be computer literate, able to climb a ladder, lift up to 40 lbs., and navigate stairs. Interns must be able to schedule work hours Monday-Friday. Interns are awarded a stipend.
