Gaylord Building Site Director Ad

 

The Canal Corridor Association seeks a director for the Gaylord Building, a National Trust Historic Site.  The 14,000 sq ft building is an adaptively reused industrial building in historic Lockport, Illinois along the I&M Canal in the nation’s first National Heritage Corridor.  The building houses a restaurant, visitor center, and exhibit galleries.   www.gaylordbuilding.org

 

We seek a visionary, energetic director who will promote and advance the cultural and historic preservation importance, programming and financial condition of the building.  Duties: Interpretation and programming of exhibit and meeting spaces. Marketing and fund-raising.  Direct building preservation and oversee maintenance. At least 5 years historic site, heritage tourism, real estate, community revitalization or historic preservation experience with a degree in related field.  The successful candidate will be a skilled communicator able to interact positively and collaborate with various constituencies.  We need a diversely talented individual with the flexibility of mind and spirit.
