Try contacting some local taxidermists.  The taxidermist who cleans our specimens, and keeps them ready for exhibit, knew a local appraiser who was able to assist us.

They are actually specimens....

Thanks for asking, that is an important difference!

Are these birds decorative in nature (like parlor decorations) or are they specimens?  We have a stuffed owl, for example, in a glass dome that was intended for a parlor table.  We also have a novelty squirrel band which we are unfortunately known for.  If I should ever need either of these delights appraised, I'd go to our regular appraisers who do general dec. arts.

I'm looking for a reputable appraiser for some Victorian era stuffed birds in our collection (for insurance purposes only).

Can anyone recommend someone? We would prefer someone U.S. based and on the east coast if possible.

Thanks
