ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR FOR DEVELOPMENT, Wolfsonian-FIU, Miami Beach

The Wolfsonian-Florida International University, a museum and research center located in the heart of South Beach, seeks an experienced development officer to spearhead all aspects of fundraising.  The Wolfsonian examines how material culture and design reflect -- and shape -- the world through its collection of art and artifacts that span 1880 to 1945.  Reporting to the museum's director, the development officer is responsible for individual, corporate, and foundation giving, grant solicitation and tracking, and membership to meet the needs of this rapidly growing museum. The position works closely with the development committee of the board.  Responsibilities include: identification of potential donors, design and execution of cultivation and solicitation strategies, organization of special projects and events, implementation of annual fund and membership program and oversight of the many details related to these efforts.  The successful candidate will have demonstrated management and organizational skills, experience working with and motivating a board, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a hands-on work ethic.  Demonstrated past success in fundraising is essential.  Experience and understanding of capital campaign strategy desired.  Knowledge of Raisers Edge preferred.  A national and international perspective, with enthusiasm for being engaged in the dynamic environment of Miami-Dade County highly desired.  Intelligent and sophisticated, the right candidate will be an ambitious, dynamic, and creative development professional with seven to ten years of proven leadership and management experience developing and implementing a broad-based fundraising program.  Capital campaign experience is a must.  He/she must have a successful track record of personally identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major individual donors.  Experience in or exposure to marketing, communications, and public relations is ideal.  A bachelor's degree is required and an advanced degree is preferred.

The Wolfsonian celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, providing an important watershed for planning for our future.  We seek a broad spectrum of candidates.
