Job Summary   

The Wolfsonian-FIU museum - located in the heart of South Beach - seeks an
experienced Assistant Registrar to join our team of museum professionals.
Our exhibitions and collections examine material culture from 1880 to 1945. 

Candidates will perform duties not limited to: assisting, supervising,
maintaining all aspects of registration which includes supervision and
maintenance of permanent collection and object records (manual and
electronic), new acquisitions, administration of traveling / temporary
exhibitions and loans, condition reporting, coordinating logistics for
packing, crating, shipping, installation/de-installation, tracking object
movement and location, maintaining exhibition records, collection inventory
and related documentation, monitors department budget, prepares purchase
orders, provides access and escort to permanent collection, performs other
related duties and projects as assigned or requested. 
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, flexible in multi-tasking with ability to
analyze and solve problems are essential. Excellent organizational,
interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are critical. Ability
to work independently with accuracy and minimal guidance preferred.
Patience, persistence, and ability to work with others in good humor are
desirable. 

Strong computer skills are a must including electronic database management
experience and a cognitive understanding of Microsoft(r) software
applications. Knowledge of digital camera, equipment, software, the
digitization process and metadata is an advantage. 

Assists in all aspects of registration which includes supervision and

Minimum Qualifications   

Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization or a Bachelor's
degree and 2 years of appropriate experience.   


Desired Qualifications   

Self-motivated, detail-oriented, flexible in multi-tasking with ability to

with an understanding of professional museum standards and methods worldwide
is mandatory. 

Minimum Requirements: Applicants should have a bachelor's degree in Art
History, Museum Studies, or a related field with a minimum of three to four
years experience in museum registration. Demonstrated proficiency in current
registration practices is necessary. Extensive knowledge of professional art
handling techniques, packing, crating, shipping, general exhibition
logistics along with an understanding of professional museum standards and
methods worldwide is mandatory. Valid Florida driver's license.
