The National Endowment for the Humanities has a Preservation Assistance Grant http://www.neh.gov/grants/guidelines/pag.html for smaller institutions. The grant will cover the fees for consultants, including honoraria, travel, lodging, and per diem expenses, costs for preservation supplies and furniture, environmental monitoring equipment, and workshop fees. Our on-line courses, at www.museumclasses.org, fall within the NEH definition of "workshop fees."  At $350 per class, they are an economical way to improve staff skills and knowledge.  Our courses for 2005 are listed below.  We will be offering these courses again in 2006. We will also add courses on exhibit design, long-term loans, and traveling exhibits.  Please consider applying for the NEH's Preservation Assistance Grant.  Successful applicants will be awarded an outright grant up to $5000.   We can support your application as consultants (Northern States Conservation Center, www.collectioncare.org)  or workshop providers (www.museumclasses.org) .  The grant deadline is May 16 2005 for projects beginning January 2006.  If you are interested in applying, please let us know soon.  We can review draft grant texts up until May 4, 2005.

Sincerely,
Helen Alten
