Dear Museum Listers,

I am proposing a panel for the American Folklore Society's annual meeting in Atlanta, Georgia,  from October 19 through October 23, 2005.   April 15 is the deadline for proposals to participate in this meeting.

My panel is entitled:  "Teaching Tolerance via Folklore in Museums."

I still need 2 more participants.   The panel will consist of a 1 hour and 45 minute block of time, where each participant will have 15 to 20 minutes to present their ideas with the remaining time left for discussion.   The papers will be posted electronically prior to the meeting.  Deadline for the receipt of the finished papers is August 31.

Have you developed and implemented an interesting museum exhibit, public program or educational materials in the recent past that addresses interethnic issues or teaching tolerance that utilizes folklore?    The current participants in the panel are Dr. Annette Fromm of the Dearing Estate at Cutler in Miami, and myself.

If you are interested in participating in this panel, please submit a brief (one paragraph) description of your project and your role in it, and an additional one paragraph biography as soon as possible to     [log in to unmask]

People submitting ideas for this panel will be contacted next week.   You will be required to register for the conference by April 15, the deadline for completed proposals.
