Museum Education Internship

The Lynn Museum & Historical Society is seeking an enthusiastic student, interested in pursuing a career in Museum Education, for a summer 2005 internship, approximately six weeks in July and August.

The intern would work two days a week for six weeks. S/he would be responsible for the delivery of six previously developed programs for children ages 6 – 10 years, one 1-1/2 hour long program each week for six weeks.
S/he would develop and deliver a 1 hour program on an existing permanent exhibit and a 1 hour program on a temporary exhibit. Programs would be available for children in summer camps and out-of-school summer programs by appointment.
S/he would work with the curator to develop a school program for a new exhibit opening in the fall of 2005.

The intern should have completed or be working to complete a bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields:

Education, history, public history, museum education, or museum studies

A student working on a graduate degree in one of these fields is preferred.

This is an unpaid internship but could be structured to meet academic requirements.
