Thanks for the reassuring responses from everyone.  While my father does actually glow in the dark on occasion, I'll go back to assuming the reasons are his overzealous Ham radio activities as opposed to overzealous vaseline glass collecting.  ;-)  Sincere thanks to all.  I'll sleep easier tonight.
