Internship. Canterbury Shaker Village, Canterbury, New Hampshire.
Canterbury Shaker Village (CSV) is an historic Shaker community
established in 1792, which became a private, non-profit preservation and
educational institution in 1969. As an historic site museum, CSV is
dedicated to using its 694 acres of land, 25 historic Shaker buildings
and 100,000 artifacts to expand the knowledge of the Canterbury Shakers
and their 200 year relationship to American culture. Working under the
auspices of the Shaker Village's Education and Garden Departments, the
successful applicant will participate in a project aiming to develop and
promote gardening and outdoor-recreational opportunities at the Village.
Project-specific goals include the development of gardening classes, the
planting of a hands-on children's garden, the creation of self-guided
hiking trails, and the introduction of farm animals. Excellent
communication skills are required, as is a willingness and ability to
work out-of-doors. Experience and interest in organic gardening is
desirable. The position is unpaid and starts in June 2005; housing may
be available. For more information contact Will Frey, Garden Manager
