My museum is producing a monograph on the life and work of a regional folk artist. We will be
paying all fees associated with the authorship of the text, editing of the text, photography, design
and printing of the book. We will then turn the finished product to a distributor to store, promote
and distribute the inventory to book retailers and individuals. This is a new situation for the
Museum. How do we determine what to pay the distributor for their services? Is it a percentage of
book sales? Or a flat fee based on the total production costs?

Thank you,
Marisa
