My first experience with the museum world was as a docent at a university anthropology museum. I volunteered to give outreach programs and tours to students, once a week for 4 years, while holding an evening job. After realizing I wanted to pursue this as a career, I attended graduate school in museum studies. As a graduate student, I worked part-time at museums and an archive. Our department required either an internship or a thesis for graduation, so I opted for the internship. After interning, the same museum offered me a position, and I stayed there for a couple of years to gain experience. After a long search and some unsuccessful interviews, I took a brief stint at an arts organization, where I knew I could gain some beneficial, related experience. I am about to begin another job in the museum field, in what looks to be an excellent position.         ========================================================= Important Subscriber Information:
