Partial Description
The State Preservation Board (SPB) is a prestigious state
agency that preserves, restores and maintains the State Capitol and other Texas landmarks,
including the General Land Office Building, for the benefit of all Texans. The Texas State
History Museum
is a dynamic non-collecting educational institution that engages its visitors
in the exciting Story of Texas through a variety of programs and exhibit
experiences. This position reports to the Museum Director and is a key member
of the Museum's strategic management team. The Director of Marketing and
Communications plans, develops and oversees the Museum's strategic marketing
initiatives, ensuring that all marketing activities contribute to building the
TSHM audience and earned revenues and conform to the institutional mission,
goals, objectives and brand identity. Oversees TSHM public relations and
public information; facility rental and special events office; membership; and
visitor services. Performs human resources management functions for all
assigned areas of operation; annual marketing plan and budgeting for Marketing
and Communications department. Maintains current knowledge and skills of
changing technologies and developments in the marketing and museum industries.
