Lab Manager, Lubbock Lake
Landmark-a unit of the Museum of Texas Tech
University
Description: This position is grant-based up to 2 years with the
possibility of an extension at the end of term. Applicant must
possess a MA in Museum Science, experience with museum collections
care practices, and a basic level of recognition of various types of
materials encountered in late Quaternary deposits.
Duties are:
… Supervises Lab staff and students.
… Performs administrative duties such as
writing monthly lab reports, managing supplies, maintaining the
computer database, overseeing data transfers to the Museum, and
keeping up with staff and student hours worked.
… Oversees the processing of recovered
materials from the late Quaternary record, involving cleaning,
stabilizing, cataloging, computerized inventorying, packaging, and
housing of the generated collections (objects, samples,
documents).
… Interacts with the Field Crew to
coordinate activities related to processing of material and its
documentation brought in from the field.
… Oversees the bulk sediment water-washing
and sorting process.
… Implements the policies and procedures
as directed by the Collections Manager or the Director of Lubbock Lake
Landmark.
… Must be patient, organized, attentive to
detail, and a team worker with demonstrated supervisory
experience.
Salary: $24,000 plus all University benefits
