Lab Manager, Lubbock Lake Landmark-a unit of the Museum of Texas Tech University

Description: This position is grant-based up to 2 years with the possibility of an extension at the end of term.  Applicant must possess a MA in Museum Science, experience with museum collections care practices, and a basic level of recognition of various types of materials encountered in late Quaternary deposits.

Duties are:
Supervises Lab staff and students.
Performs administrative duties such as writing monthly lab reports, managing supplies, maintaining the computer database, overseeing data transfers to the Museum, and keeping up with staff and student hours worked.
Oversees the processing of recovered materials from the late Quaternary record, involving cleaning, stabilizing, cataloging, computerized inventorying, packaging, and housing of the generated collections (objects, samples, documents).
Interacts with the Field Crew to coordinate activities related to processing of material and its documentation brought in from the field.
Oversees the bulk sediment water-washing and sorting process.
Implements the policies and procedures as directed by the Collections Manager or the Director of Lubbock Lake Landmark.
Must be patient, organized, attentive to detail, and a team worker with demonstrated supervisory experience.

Salary: $24,000 plus all University benefits
