Museum Education at Lubbock
Lake Landmark
Lubbock Lake Landmark, an
archaeological and natural history preserve and unit of the Museum of
Texas Tech University, is offering a full-time, paid, 12-month
internship in Museum Education for the calendar year 2005. The intern
will work in a team-based collaborative environment, reporting to the
Education Program Manager and Director of Lubbock Lake
Landmark.
Major Duties:
… developing and teaching classes and
workshops throughout the year for area youth;
… assisting with planning and implementation
of public programming initiatives including workshops, tours, and
outreach programs;
… researching and upgrading the
Landmark's traveling trunk program;
… developing methods to evaluate public
programming initiatives;
… writing articles for the Landmark's
newsletter;
… assisting with front desk and gift shop
operations;
… other duties as assigned.
Abilities and Skills
… an understanding of and familiarity with
museum education and interactive teaching theory and methods;
… strong writing/communication,
organization, and research skills;
… ability to work simultaneously on
multiple, diverse tasks;
… self-motivation to achieve goals and
complete projects individually and with groups;
… excellent interpersonal skills, including
the ability to deal effectively with people of varying levels of
experience and expertise;
… computer proficiency: Microsoft Word
and Excel; Pagemaker and Filemaker Pro a plus
Current enrollment in a graduate museum science or education program
or recent graduate is preferred.
Salary: $1,500/month plus benefits
