Internship Opportunity - Photographer's Assistant



The Mary Baker Eddy Library for the Betterment of Humanity is looking for a
Photographer's Assistant Intern (non-paid position) to begin immediately,
2-3 days per week (flexible).



Under the supervision of the Art Director/Photographer, the intern will:



*       Assist the photographer during all photo shoots. These will include
studio and location photography in all formats; small and medium format
digital and small, medium and large format film.
*       Act as "second shooter" in situations where more than one event must
be covered during the same time period.
*       Assist with pre and post-production duties as related to photo
shoots.
*       Help with preparation, maintenance and organization of all
photography equipment.
*       Help edit, organize, catalog and archive all digital and film-based
images.
*       Respond to requests for archived images and deliver digital files or
produce prints as needed.
*       Work with Adobe Photoshop to manipulate images as required for
specific uses.



Internship Requirements Include:



Education/Experience:

College level basic photography course.



Knowledge/Skills:

A good grasp of photographic theory and terminology. Familiarity with small
format film and digital cameras as a minimum, knowledge of medium format
cameras, a plus.  Demonstrated experience with Adobe Photoshop is a must,
familiarity with Extensis Portfolio asset management software is a big plus.



Qualities/Traits:

Candidate should demonstrate attention to detail and the ability to carry a
project through to completion.  Ability to problem-solve and work under
pressure. Must have the physical ability to handle commercial lighting and
grip equipment. Be willing to learn new skills and apply those skills in a
professional manner.

Internship Opportunity- Copyright Assistant Intern



The Mary Baker Eddy Library for the Betterment of Humanity is looking for a
Copyright Assistant Intern (non-paid position) to start the internship
opportunity part-time (2-3 days per week, 16-24 hours) beginning ASAP.  The
internship assignment will end on January 1, 2005.



Under the supervision of the Copyright Administrator, the Copyright
Assistant Intern will:

*         Perform database entry and file management of multiple permissions
and licenses

             obtained and granted

*         Help catalogue photos from photo database and possibly some video
content

*         Handle administrative tasks for the copyright group such as
processing invoices, check requests, faxes, emails and letters; provide
routine answers to inquirers or refer to others as appropriate and follow up
on outside requests for information or content

*         Handle routine internal and external permission requests as
directed by Copyright

             Administrator

*         Assist Copyright Administrator in reviewing back permissions and
files for creation of intellectual property database and assists with
archiving those files

*         Assist Library Photographer in obtaining releases during photo
shoots



Internship Requirements Include:

Education/Experience: College degree plus proven office skills.

Knowledge/Skills: Demonstrated experience with databases, spreadsheets, and
computer

packages such as Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook. Familiarity with
Portfolio

Extensis photograph catalogue highly desirable. Some experience with
intellectual

property rights as it relates to publishing, helpful.

Qualities/Traits: Attention to detail and follow-through. Service-oriented,
team-oriented, and ability to remain calm under competing pressures and
deadlines. Ability to discern when issue is unique or complex and should be
brought to the Copyright Administrator's attention. Ability to maintain
confidentiality.
