JOB TITLE:  Marketing Director

REPORTS TO:  Designated Supervisor

FLSA STATUS:  Exempt

 

JOB PURPOSE

 

Promote and market museum programs, events, products, tours and membership. Coordinate public relations and manage Cherokee National Historical Society, Inc.’s marketing budget.

 

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

Develop coordinated, in depth marketing strategic plan (advertising, market research, promotion).

 

Plan, design, and implement advertising materials and campaigns in support of the Cherokee National Historical Society, Inc., Cherokee Heritage Arts, Cherokee Heritage Center, Cherokee Heritage Pottery, Ts La Gi Amphitheater, Trail of Tears Drama, Ancient Village, Adams Corner, and all events and programs.

 

Develop and cultivate relationships with relevant organizations and businesses in furtherance of the Cherokee National Historical Society, Inc.’ mission. 

 

Conduct research on current related museum marketing and promotion issues.

 

Identify appropriate marketing partners and programs.

 

Develop budget recommendations and administer designated budget.

Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.

Supervision of Marketing, Public Relations, and Group Tours personnel.

Other duties as assigned.

 

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

 

Assist in Cherokee National Historical Society, Inc., meetings, events, programs, and receptions.

 

Provide information on area of expertise to Cherokee Heritage Center and outside agents.

Museum and office environment; occasionally exposed to outdoor elements.

 

 

ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
Two years of professional museum experience, including at least one year as the marketing professional of a museum, and a bachelor's degree in business, marketing,  advertising, or a related field. Other combinations of education and experience which meet the minimum qualifications may be substituted.
