Education Coordinator

USS Constellation Museum

 

The USS Constellation Museum is seeking a qualified individual for the position of Education Coordinator.  Primary responsibilities include the implementation and promotion of all USS Constellation Museum Education Programs.  Education programs include day and overnight opportunities for school and youth groups of all levels of grade and ability as well as in-school outreach.

 

The position of Education Coordinator requires creativity and enthusiasm for working with students of all ages as well as excellent organizational, communication, writing, and managerial skills. While program implementation and program promotion are the primary responsibilities of this position the opportunity is there to take the department to the next level.  Program development and advanced, marketing, promotion, and selling of educational programs, staff development, as well as involvement in the greater museum and educational community are goals for which to strive as the department’s capacity grows. 

 

The Education Coordinator should be have at least three years of teaching experience, with a portion or all of that experience being in a museum setting, and be familiar with the Maryland Core Learning Goals and the Maryland Voluntary State Curriculum.  They should also have an interest in the Civil War Navy, sailing ships, and the life of the 19th-century sailor.  Actual sailing experience is a plus.  The applicant should be able to maintain a flexible schedule with the knowledge that the primary audience for the museum’s education programs visits the ship on weekends.  Excellent computer, organizational, and writing skills are all requirements.  For more information and a detailed job description please contact Christopher Rowsom, Executive Director, at 410-539-1797 X 402 or e-mail at [log in to unmask].
