The Rock County Historical Society is now accepting applications for internships in Collections or Exhibits.  Located in Janesville, Wisconsin, the Rock County Historical Society collects, preserves, and interprets the history of Rock County through exhibitions and educational programming at five different sites - the Lincoln-Tallman House and Carriage Barn, the Helen Jeffris Wood Museum Center, the Wilson King Stone House, and the Frances Willard School House.



Targeted Collections Internships:  



                1.The intern/s will continue an inventory project in the Lincoln Tallman House.  The house was built from 1855-1857 and has nearly 80% of the original furnishings.  Duties will include condition reporting, photography, cutting barrier levels, and relabeling if needed.  Possible database work.  (Funding is available.  Interns will be paid $6.50/hr in monthly stipends.)

 

               2. The intern/s will continue a digitization project of Tallman papers located in our archives.  Original checks, banking statements, receipts, land papers, and other original documents are included in the collection of over 3000 files.  Duties will include documenting each piece, scanning, labeling, measuring, and organizing digital images.  

               (Funding is available.   Interns will be paid $6.50/hr in monthly stipends.)



            Graduate and undergraduate students enrolled in museum studies, archives, history, public history, and history are encouraged to apply.  Interns will be required to work 1-2 days a week from mid September to mid December.  Please apply with a letter of intent and resume to the address below.
