Greetings!

A few unusual questions from me: Might someone be able to enlighten me about the history/origin of cupi (or cuppie) dolls?  Does "cupi" (or "cuppie") originate in Latin and, if so, with what specific root/word?

(No, I'm not playing with dolls or dreaming of the new horror flick "Seed of Chucky."  LOL!  I'm doing some research about a painting in our collection which relates - peripherally - to this topic.)

Thank you in advance for any help in this regard.

Sincerely,
