Care and Preservation of Agricultural and Industrial Machinery and Equipment

 (2-day workshop)

 

Date: August 27-28, 2004

Location: The Olmsted County Historical Society, 1195 W. Circle Drive SW, Rochester, Minnesota

 

Instructor: Malcolm Collum, Conservator, Henry Ford Museum & Greenfield Village. The instructor is a nationally recognized expert on the care of agricultural and industrial equipment at one of the largest museum collections in the US. 

 

This workshop will include a lecture, discussions, demonstrations and hands-on practice covering the multitude of issues for the preservation, conservation, storage and exhibition of these complex artifacts.  The differences between preservation, conservation and restoration will be thoroughly discussed and evaluated in an open forum.  This workshop will be held at the Olmsted County Historical Society in Rochester, Minnesota.  The OCHS has a large collection of these types of artifacts that will be made available for discussion and use during the workshop.  The workshop will run from 9:00 to 4:30 each day, and a large portion of each day will be spent outside. 

 

Workshop Fees & Discounts:

Regular fees for this 2 day workshop will be $245 or $195 with UMCA institutional member discount.

A substantial discount is available to institutions with budgets at or below $50,000.  Institutions in this category who are UMCA members pay $50 per day, nonmembers pay $75 per day.  Currently enrolled or preprogram students pay $35 per day.
