Collections / Exhibitions Assistant
The Lake County Discovery Museum’s Collections / Exhibitions Assistant is a one-year, paid position designed to give candidates an opportunity to work within the Collections and Exhibitions division of a nationally accredited museum. Areas of focus for the position include preparing materials for researchers, working with staff on collections storage tasks, refining cataloging terminology, and exhibition design and preparation. The position also includes occasional work at the Museum front desk and with large-scale public events.
The Lake County Discovery Museum is a nationally accredited museum and a department of the Lake County Forest Preserve District, located in the north suburbs of Chicago. Museum exhibits focus primarily on its collections, which include the Lake County history archives and the world-renowned Curt Teich Postcard Archives. Special exhibitions also allow the Museum to explore a variety of subjects, including popular culture.
