One hotel I would AVOID is the Kensington area the Thistle Kensington Palace.  It was rated as a 4-star hotel when I booked a trip through British Airways to London last spring.  It was horrible!  Fortunately, we only were there a couple of nights.  We then stayed at the President hotel adjacent to Russell Square.  It was reasonable, clean, and very convenient to the tube (directly accross the street).  Although not in Kensington -- it's a fun area within walking distance to the British Museum and British Library.

Subject: London hotels

Greetings all,

My wife and I are planning our first trip to London for this August.  I would love to hear about decent, reasonably priced hotels in the Kensington area.  Research thus far has been an eye opener.  Feel free to reply off list.

Regards,

Matt Linke
