Susan,

Check out "Preserving Textiles: A Guide for the Nonspecialist" by Harold
F. Mailand and Dorothy Stites Alig. C. 1999.

This source has been very helpful to me in caring for the costumes and
household textiles in our collection. The book presents a solid basic
overview of all collections care issues in regard to costumes -
environmental monitoring, pests, storage and display techniques, and
treatment options. It's concise, easy to understand, and has great
'how-to' illustrations. It includes a bibliography and list of
resources.

All the best,
Sheri Leahan
