Associate Director/Museum and Historic Sites Division for the Nebraska State Historical Society. Administers the agency’s museum and historic sites division; implements long range plans for exhibits, public programs, historic preservation of museum’s collections; develops and monitors division’s budget, prepares requests and administers division’s grant funded projects; manages daily museum operations including maintenance, security, and facilities, oversees museum and historic sites capital construction projects; Manages about twenty professional and support employees plus a host of volunteers at seven sites across the state. Post high school education with emphasis in museum studies, history anthropology or related field plus experience in public administration and fund development. Master ’s degree preferred. Knowledge of: Nebraska and western history; procedures for planning, design and construction of museum exhibits; historic preservation requirements; personnel rules, regulations and policies; development and establishment of short and long term division goals, funding sources and budgeting systems for projects and programs. Ability to: represent the agency in public meetings; organize teams to meet skills needs and employee development opportunities; evaluate agency needs and recommendations to establish plans; recommend policy changes; communicate with staff and others to maintain quality and meet deadlines; conceptualize and organize museum projects and programs; monitor budget and expenditures; evaluate and interpret a variety of factors, problems and alternative solutions for completing complex projects.
