Timothy, as long as you have some experience in terms of your area
(internships) I think it can't hurt to have the position you do.  I worked
as a docent/weekend manager in a big children's museum and I aspired to be a
history museum curator (which I am). I think the experience there showed
that I could work with the public, and it was a positive addition to my c.v.
