Just a reminder for everyone contemplating applying for Accreditation this spring, all applications must be postmarked by June 15th. The next deadline is December 15.

America's accredited museums have earned the honor by completing the rigorous but highly rewarding review process that examines all aspects of a museum's operations. They have found that accreditation means:

Increased public and professional recognition and reputation.

Increased credibility with funding agencies and donors.

A clearer understanding of the museum's strength, goals, priorities and mission for staff and board.

We would like your museum to consider if it is ready to join this distinguished group (the Accreditation Program website has a section to with tips to help you determine readiness: http://www.aam-us.org/programs/accreditation/webready.cfm).

You may find an application as well as information about the eligibility criteria and process at www.aam-us.org/accred or by contacting the Accreditation Program staff at 202-289-9116 or accreditation @aam-us.org. The Accreditation Program staff is always available to answer your questions and help you determine if your museum is ready. They are also able to help you find other resources to help your museum prepare.

Please consider applying. If your museum is ready, it deserves the honor.
