April,
The Ranching Heritage Center in Lubbock, Texas is a museum, and what they
discribe as a historical park where there are authentic, historic
buildings in a lanscape setting behind the actual museum building. Their
web site is http://www.depts.ttu.edu/ranchhc/. There are some great
pictures of the buildings and their settings along with descriptions, and
a map. You could incorporate a museological interpretation along with
your historiography. I did this recently in a paper about the meaning of
objects during the Crusades, for my last graduate class for Museum
Science. You might try, A History from Things, edited by Steven Lubar and
David Kingery; or Interpreting Objects and Collection, edited by Susan M.
Pierce.

Best of luck,
