DUTIES: The incumbent serves as Manager of the Collections Documentation Services and is responsible for the management of the National Museum of American History (NMAH) collections documentation program to ensure the accuracy, consistency, accessibility of data for collections management, research, and public programs. Manages the development and implementation of functional specifications, documentation standards and standard vocabularies for NMAH's Collection Information system. Plans, , coordinates, and implements all aspects of the program. Supervises assigned staff including hiring, assigning work, evaluating performance, and recommending training and awards. Determines resource needs and prepares program budgets and spending plans. In addition, the incumbent serves on Smithsonian committees that develop institution policies and procedures related to collections documentation issues and activities. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level. Specialized experience is defined as experience which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and which is typically in or related to the work of the position as described above.
