Conference: 93rd Annual College Art Association Conference

Date, Location: February 16-19, 2005, Atlanta, Georgia

Session title: “Can't Live With Them, Can't Live Without Them: Innovative
Approaches to Student and Faculty Exhibitions”

Faculty and student exhibitions play a crucial role in the mission of college and university museums and galleries and provide important opportunities for the participants. Yet the repetition of these exhibitions, often presented in the same manner and same space year after year, has rendered these shows predictable and in some cases, undesirable by the artists. How can student and faculty exhibitions be enlivened to create a meaningful experience for the artists, the organizers, and the audience? How can under-utilized resources (such as the internet, institutional exchanges, and guest curators) add to the depth and prestige of these exhibitions? Papers are encouraged from faculty, students, and museum staff.
