Dear Listers,

We are currently working on developing a museum store policy for our various historical sites and one issue keeps coming up.  I know that, in general, most historic sites don't give visitors (by sale or for free) foods produced onsite during cooking demonstrations.  I was always under the impression that this had to do with food safety laws.  Does anyone have a citation for any regulations related to the preparation of food outside of a commercial kitchen?  Would this also apply to cosmetic products (i.e. soap)?

Thanks,
Catherine Dean
